About

pixelfx is a library of 244 pixel art effects in 21 categories (fire, explosions, water, ice, lightning, sci fi, melee and more), each one a small JavaScript file instead of an image, with a Claude Code skill on top. The agent searches the catalog, renders a contact sheet it can look at, tweaks palette, seed, angle or glow, and exports sprite sheets for Godot, Unity, GameMaker or any engine, or drops the code straight into canvas, Phaser, PixiJS or three.js games. When nothing fits, it builds a new effect with a render, look and refine loop based on Hugo Duprez's method for good pixel effects with Claude. Effects can be acted out by a character that winds up, hits and recovers. Free under the MIT license.

Access

Medium

What this skill's own files let it touch on your machine and accounts. Access isn't a verdict: check the publisher and the security audits too.

  • No bundled scripts
  • Runs shell commands
  • Writes files in your project
  • Uses the network
  • No credentials needed

The skill itself is a single SKILL.md. It clones the pixelfx repo if you do not have one and runs its Node tools (render.mjs, list.mjs) with no dependencies; ffmpeg is optional for GIF and MP4 previews. No credentials. Writes renders under records/ and new effect files in the checkout.
