In Vapi, an assistant is a configurable pipeline of transcriber, model and voice, and squads hand calls between specialised assistants while keeping context. It includes phone numbers, SIP and Twilio or Telnyx transport, call simulation and monitoring. A CLI and a hosted MCP server connect Vapi to coding agents and other MCP clients.
