Director: turn a brief into a finished short video
Plans, shoots, cuts and delivers short films, ads, explainers, music videos and micro dramas from a brief, with your approval at each stage.
Best for Founders and creators who need short videos from a brief without a production team
I think of Director as a small production crew in a chat. You give it a brief, it pitches a few concepts, and once you pick one it writes the script and a shot list with timing, framing and sound for every shot.
Before generating anything it shows a style frame and a storyboard, so the look gets approved early and characters stay consistent. Then it makes or gathers the shots, cuts them to the music or voiceover, adds captions and text, and hands back the final file.
It was built by Xi Yan and is listed in the Grok Bot marketplace. It covers short films, ads, explainers, music videos and micro dramas, and it leaves publishing to you.

Questions
What kinds of videos can Director make?
Short films, ads, explainers, music videos and micro dramas, in vertical, horizontal or square formats.
Can I use my own footage?
Yes. Send your clips, brand assets, voice or music and it uses them first, only generating the shots that are missing.
Do I get to approve things before the final cut?
Yes. It checks in at the concept, the storyboard and a rough cut, so changes happen before the final export.
How do I start?
Write a few lines about the video you want, then click "Add to Grok Bot" to set up Director and send it your first brief.
