About

Distributed graph issue tracker for AI agents, powered by Dolt

Beads replaces scattered plan files with a structured, version-controlled task graph your agent can query. `bd ready` lists work with no open blockers, `bd update --claim` atomically takes a task, `bd close` releases whatever it was blocking, and `bd remember` saves project insights that `bd prime` injects into the next session. Hash-based IDs avoid merge collisions when several agents or branches work at once, epics break into sub-tasks, and old closed work is compacted to save context. It is backed by Dolt (a SQL database with git-style branching and sync), and `bd setup` wires it into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Factory and others. Started by Steve Yegge, now maintained under Gas Town Hall, with about 28k GitHub stars. Repo: https://github.com/gastownhall/beads.
