claude-mem

Persistent memory across sessions for your coding agents

claude-mem preview

About

claude-mem is an Apache 2.0 project by Alex Newman (thedotmack) and one of the most starred agent memory tools on GitHub, past 100,000 stars. It runs locally by default, and there is an optional hosted CMEM Pro plan with a 30 day free trial.

## What it does Hooks into your agent's session lifecycle, records tool use and decisions, and turns them into short summaries. At the start of a new session it reinjects the relevant parts, so the agent remembers what it already tried. MCP search tools let the agent query its own history on demand. ## Install `npx claude-mem install` sets it up for Claude Code. Use `--ide` to target another agent, for example `npx claude-mem install --ide opencode` or `--ide grok-bot`. Pass `--provider host` to keep everything local. ## Pricing The open source version is free. CMEM Pro adds hosted memory and has a 30 day free trial.
