Open source Arc alternative with an MCP server so Claude Code can drive your tabs

About
Meridian by undermove (@undermove_dev) was built as Arc heads toward shutdown on Dec 22. It keeps the Arc workflow (spaces with their own profiles, pinned tabs and folders, a Today list that auto-archives, split view, Peek, the command bar, Air Traffic Control link routing) and imports your Arc sidebar in one click, including logins on macOS. The agent side is what earns it a spot here: an MCP server exposes 21 tools such as list_tabs, read_page, get_interactive_elements, screenshot, click, type_text, navigate and split_view, plus opt-in run_javascript, so Claude Code, Claude Desktop or any MCP client can read and drive your real browser. You pick the access level per agent (off, read only, ask first, full control), and the bridge runs over a local unix socket with a fresh bearer token on every start and no TCP port, so websites cannot reach it. A Workbench runs Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI in terminals next to the page, and Mission Control (Shift+Cmd+M) shows a live tree of every agent, subagent and MCP client with its status. Built-in AI uses your own Claude API key, Copilot or a local Ollama or LM Studio model. Very new (launched Oct 23, 2026), MIT licensed.
Features
I compare five ways to give an AI agent a browser, from local Chrome over MCP to hosted cloud browsers, with real install commands and pricing.
The APIs and cloud browsers that let an agent search, read and use the live web, compared on what they return, how they bill and how to plug them in.
Five tools that give Claude Code memory across sessions, agents and machines, with install commands, honest caveats and when CLAUDE.md is enough.
