gws is a practical alternative to wiring up a separate MCP server per Google app. You run gws auth setup once (it walks you through the Google Cloud project), then your agent can call commands like gws drive files list or gws sheets spreadsheets create with JSON params, preview with --dry-run, and stream paginated results as NDJSON. The skills cover every supported API plus 50 curated recipes for Gmail, Drive, Docs, Calendar and Sheets, installable with npx skills add. There is also a Gemini CLI extension. Note that the README says it is not an officially supported Google product, and it is still pre-1.0 with breaking changes expected. About 32k GitHub stars and trending today.
