HA-MCP (Home Assistant MCP)

Home Assistant MCP server with 87 tools for devices and automations

HA-MCP (Home Assistant MCP) preview

About

HA-MCP is an unofficial, MIT licensed Home Assistant MCP server created by Julien (julienld) with 5,000+ GitHub stars and end to end tests on every release. It runs inside Home Assistant as a custom component, so it works on every install type without a separate server.

## What it does It exposes 87 tools covering entities, services, areas, devices, dashboards and automations, so an agent can turn on lights, check sensor history, debug an automation or write a new one for you. Tool search keeps the context small when your client supports it. ## Install The recommended path is the HA-MCP Custom Component through HACS: add the repo as a custom integration, restart Home Assistant, add the HA-MCP Server integration with an admin token (ideally from a dedicated local only account) and pick how clients connect. Then paste the connect URL into your AI client. There is also a Home Assistant app (add-on), Docker and `uvx ha-mcp@latest`; run only one of them. ## Remote access Remote clients can connect through a secret webhook URL over Nabu Casa or your own domain, optionally behind Home Assistant sign in.
